OVERVIEW OF THE BILINGUAL PATHWAY

The Bilingual Pathway is built upon the integration of the Vietnamese National Curriculum, the U.S. Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).Through this integrated approach, students gain a deep understanding of knowledge in both languages while developing academic thinking, life skills, and the essential competencies required for the 21st century.

Bilingual Pathway aligned with the Common Core Standards for Grade 1 to 9

When following the Bilingual Pathway at UTS, students build a strong academic foundation through a program developed in alignment with the Common Core Standards (United States). With up to 45% of instruction delivered in English, the pathway supports students in strengthening their language proficiency while developing essential knowledge and skills to learn confidently in a bilingual learning environment.

Subjects taught fully in English

English

The English program builds a strong foundation in the four key language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Beyond language proficiency, the program focuses on developing academic competencies and essential global citizenship skills through diverse learning content and engaging classroom activities.

Global Citizenship

This program encourages students to approach real-world issues creatively, share diverse perspectives, and collaborate effectively in project-based activities. Based on the Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, students are encouraged to take initiative in learning, experiment with new ideas, and continuously reflect on their own development.

Music (Grades 6–9)

The Music program helps students use language in emotionally expressive artistic contexts. Through activities such as singing, playing instruments, and ensemble performances, students explore their personal talents, build confidence in self-expression, and develop communication and teamwork skills in an international learning environment.

Performing Arts (Grades 3–9)

The program allows students to use language naturally in creative contexts. Through projects such as theatre performances, puppetry, and artistic reinterpretations, students develop creativity, confidence, and collaborative skills. Each year, students have the opportunity to participate in at least one large-scale theatrical production organized as a ticketed fundraising event, through which artistic values are shared and a spirit of giving is fostered.

Subjects taught in both English and Vietnamese

Science

The Science program builds a strong knowledge foundation for advanced study across different scientific fields. At the same time, it develops scientific thinking and analytical skills, preparing students to pursue science-related disciplines and future career pathways.

Common Core CCSS

Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an educational reform initiative implemented in public schools across the United States since 2014. Initially developed for English Language Arts and Mathematics, CCSS is a set of academic standards created by educators, experts, and thought leaders to define the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in university and future careers. These standards provide a clear framework for developing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and essential academic competencies, ensuring students are well prepared for higher education and the evolving demands of the global workforce

AP UTS

Advanced Placement (AP) Program

Advanced Placement (AP) is an advanced academic program for high school students developed and administered by the College Board, a prestigious educational organization in the United States. The programme offers college-level courses that allow students to explore subjects in greater depth while still in high school and earn potential university credits. AP courses are widely recognized and implemented in many countries around the world. Each AP subject is equivalent to a first-year university course, helping students develop critical thinking, academic research skills, and independent learning abilities at an advanced level.

AP exam results serve as strong evidence of academic excellence and may be accepted as university credits in more than 60 countries, including leading universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Canada. As a result, students may shorten their university study duration, reduce tuition costs, and strengthen their applications to top international universities.
