Talkshow: raising the child like a tree
“PARENTING LIKE A GARDENER OR A CARPENTER?” These are two metaphorical concepts to describe two schools of parenting proposed by a Psychology Professor (University of California, USA). According to this metaphor, “carpenter” parents often set a certain goal and model for their children in mind, outline a path and shape their children to achieve that goal. Therefore, children often have few opportunities to experience diversity, rarely try, rarely make mistakes to learn from those experiences. As parents, we see each child as a seed, a different plant, with its own needs and completely different ways of being cared for and nurtured. It is the parents’ job to create the best ecosystem and environment for each child to freely develop in their own way. Each different plant species has its own environmental and care needs, which only a dedicated gardener can understand and meet so that the plant can grow in the best way. Children are the same, each child has their own potential and passion, always needing to be discovered and nurtured properly. Workshop “TEACH YOUR CHILD LIKE A TREE” with the participation of Parent Coach Tu Anh and Ms. Nguyen Minh Thuy – Head of International Program at UTS. At the workshop, we will discuss the necessity of respecting and recognizing the differences in each child, and at the same time learn more about appropriate methods to help create the best environment for each child’s individual development. Audiences: Parents interested in modern parenting Time: 9:00 – 11:30 AM, Saturday, 08/01/2021. Location: US Vietnam Talent International School UTS hopes that through this exchange, parents will gain many new perspectives and useful information for their journey of nurturing their “seedlings”.

Vietnam’s Mark – A journey of heart and pride in the nation
On April 25, 2025, at the Trinh Cong Son stage, UTS students performed the emotional arts program “Vietnam’s Mark” to celebrate April 30 – the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Concluding with a choral performance of the same name, they sent a powerful message: The younger generation of UTS pledges to live with ideals, contribute, and preserve the bloodline of Lac Hong flowing strongly in every heartbeat of the new era. 100% of elementary school students participated, each contributing to the final product. Through this, they developed confidence, a spirit of contribution, teamwork skills, and a sense of pride in showcasing Vietnamese identity on stage. Specially, the entire ticket sales revenue – 46,300,000 VND – was contributed to the UTS Impact Fund, as a practical lesson on social responsibility and compassion. The students learned that even small efforts can make a positive impact on the community. Beyond national pride, UTS students also nurture the aspiration to reach out to the world – developing, learning constantly to become global citizens carrying the essence of Vietnam. This is the journey of integration but not assimilation, reaching high but always staying grounded. Proud to be Vietnamese!

The cross-subject project “Wave barrier”
In February, 11th-grade UTS-ers participated in the cross-subject project “Wave barrier”, challenging their creativity and problem-solving skills. To design effective breakwater models, they integrated knowledge from STEM subjects, including Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Project-based learning allows UTS-ers not only to understand textbook knowledge but also to apply it in practice and contribute meaningful values to the community.
